As my late wife used to say: “Lots of class, mostly low.”

From the physical beauty perspective, I’d take Mackenzie, Bozos’ ex wife, over this lady every day of the week.

Even though I am rapidly approaching my 75th birthday I am very lucky to have had a mother who believed that women could anything they put their minds to. She started out as a premed student after WWII, but had trouble with the required Latin. So she switched majors and became the first woman to graduate with a degree in mechanical engineering at her university.

I have now been married for 50 years to a man who considers me his partner, not his property.

That's wonderful❣️

I love your story and that of your mother, Betty. In my family, we adored our dad, who was funny and loving, but knew our mom was the enforcer (in a good way) of good grades and following our dreams. Her mother and aunts and grandmother were the same. Coming from fearless women is such a wonderful foundation for this life--and clearly for picking the right partner, in your case!

Thanks Mark. Appreciate it.

Good luck Mitch. You can do it. Freedom of choice is what life is all about.

Some truth here, but a bit tenuously tied to her boobs. Let her live, damn. She's fairly accomplished so I don't see the obsession in this article with her boobs. Women are so good at taking each other down, they don't even need men sometimes.

As a woman, I agree. Let her wear what she wants. I don’t think she’s doing it for her male partner. She looks self assured so probably makes her own mind up about how she presents herself. And she has enough money to buy her own dresses.

And btw, a woman showing a cleavage is definitely NOT the equivalent of a man exposing his penis, as suggested here. And for the person who is wondering what happens to silicone breasts when the woman lies down? The breasts stay upright 👀

Yes. Policing what women wear is sooo 2001. Sloppy analysis and mean spirited jabs. It's not that hard to pick up apart patriarchal norms without picking on individual women and how they present themselves.

Do you extend the same courtesy to the women wearing burqas and hijabs?

I absolutely do. Burqas and hijabs are part of their culture

Thanks Richard, we can laugh together over vegetarian pizza. You are a writer and photographer. It's easy to troll through the news, come up with some big picture idea, go nuts and then publish it. It's enormous fun. I highly recommend it.

So very funny and on point- we were all unfortunately taught that men were smart, stronger, better at everything and we must cede our power to them. Glad I broke out of that conditioning years ago and raised a daughter who is a fierce and intelligent feminist who knows her own worth. You are an amazing writer and I look forward to more!!!

I hate this display of her like she’s his blowup doll. Did the Barbie movie teach us nothing? It was so much more profound and complicated about gender than this real life super plasticized and exaggerated display. The bigger question here is why do men choose this? Knowing she’s 99% fake, why in the world would that be attractive to him, or anyone? He can buy anything he wants, but he chooses the tackiest. It’s fascinating stuff, these bloated boobs. I would love to do a cultural history on how the heck we ended up here with this shit for women in 2025. And all the Kardashians can drop dead of Botox shock as far as I’m concerned for their massive influence on growing girls, and everyone else. America is pretty sick.

I can't speak for all men, but I can speak for myself. Fakeness - yeah, natural is overstated. It's not that we love fake, we just don't care. You be you, be it fake or whatever, we aren't here to enforce naturalness rules.

Woman who knows she is sexual and has strength and pride to show off herself usually has a strong character. Do you think she is not aware about how she supposed to look? Do you think there was no other women through her life telling her how she has to hide her tits to be classy? Damn them, she says, I like myself and my boobs and men and you go... Do something. That's a nice change of pace. I have plenty experience with women who would never do anything like that. Universally, they need constant reassurance over their complexes. I want to have a friend, not to be a life cough 24/7. If she controls her complexes, that's attractive by itself.

Expand full comment

I kind of feel the opposite I have to admit. A woman who gets this much work done in order to feel attractive is NOT confidant in herself and will never be done with her addictive mission. She is full of complexes and insecurity that many societal voices helped her create. This feels like a crisis of character and culture to me. But I hear you that men probably don't even notice much or care. Luckily I've dated those who do want natural and appreciate that.

Expand full comment

*shrug* that's up to your experience with women. As for men, it is quite possible that you dated those who wanted you and therefore appreciated natural as a part of you. If they were after someone else, they would appreciate whatever is part of them. Men, as a rule, although not always, can appreciate opposite things in different situations.

There’s a theory that some men like fake because it smells of desperation. It’s the easiest neg on the planet, right?

Expand full comment

I have a theory, that when a woman changes her hair, her body, via dieting or surgery, her lips, her way of dressing, it is sending a very loud, clear message: I will change for you, even if that change hurts me. I will change into what you want. THAT is the real turn-on, I suspect.

That makes some sense, as scary as it is

The narrative that women are eternal victims with no element of choice is getting so. damn. boring. How can women ever feel equal if they perennially see themselves as children who cannot make choices? Joan Didion said all this already in 1972.

Are you saying you thought Sydney was being a victim? Where did you see that?

Oh wow, a man's perspective on something he isn't and doesn't do? You get what you want in so many ways and never think, how you got that? It's us, working on all the shit you can't be bothered with. Do you do all the housework, or alternatvely, hire the housekeeper? Plan meals and shop for them? Make sure the laundry is done and kids have clothes that fit? Oh, and while you're doing that, don't forget your full time job + commute + kids off to scholl and back +++.

So, I guess that makes us victims....

Hilarious. Sad. Truth.

And, JFC, who DID fit that bra on her? I only wear sports bras and sweats, but even I can see that bra fit is tragic.
